Today is May 12th 2020. In Pennsylvania we’ve been mandated to stay home since sometime in mid March, I can’t even keep track anymore. The Coronavirus is changing our lives in numerous ways. I’m seeing so much negativity, shaming and sadness online lately, so today I want to focus on the silver lining, the positive, the bonus from staying home:
- When was the last time you drove your car? We are significantly reducing our driving which in return reduces your monthly gas expenses, wear and tear on the car and my favorite, your carbon footprint.
- How many posts are you seeing with homemade bread or yummy dinners? We are making more meals from scratch, reducing our eating out expenses, using our creativity and eliminating trash from take out containers and bags.
- I’m also seeing more posts of my friends getting outdoors with their family. From exploring their own neighborhoods to taking hikes at local parks. Fresh air and family time sounds like a win-win to me!

Removing clutter has a calming affect plus you can generate some income if you sell gently used items on Facebook Marketplace or other sites like LetGo. Less things saves time cleaning rooms, makes it safer to move around and ultimately helps shape what’s important to you.
This is a very hard time for so many reasons, and everyone has their own reasons. I encourage you to look at a positive attribute each day. And please, keep spending less, using less and reducing junk long after shelter in place is lifted- that is good for you and the environment.
What have you seen within your home and family that’s positive? I’d love to hear more ideas and happy experiences. ❤
