On this rainy, cold Spring day outside Philadelphia, I can’t help to daydream of sunny skies and blooming flowers. The old saying “April showers bring May flowers” hasn’t come true… yet. If we can’t be outside enjoying the fresh air, what can we do inside to make sure our home has healthy air to breathe? Here are a few thoughts;

First, if you haven’t done so already, call to schedule your yearly AC tune up. A clean and maintained air conditioner will keep it running efficiently and last longer. While you’re at it, when was the last time you changed your filter? Yes, you should go do that too. A clean filter will help to keep your indoor air clean, including removing allergens.
Secondly, make sure you are using non toxic cleaning solutions. This is a no brainer, but especially if you’re doors and windows are closed because of all this rain, cold air, or pollen. Every day cleaner can be made simply with water, vinegar and some essential oils for smell. You can dive deeper into more cleaning recipes through a quick online search. (or this older post)
More suggestions are in the graphic above. Some of these are tips that may affect your habits like wearing shoes indoors or lighting a candle during a bath. It’s hard to break habits, but if you focus on the reasoning behind them, I find it helps to stick to it.
Next week when the rain stops and the weather warms up, open up your windows, turn off that air and enjoy the air mother earth gave us!
