Improving indoor air quality this winter

A few years ago I blogged about ways to keep your indoor air clean and healthy (check it out here). Since then we’ve seen a pandemic beyond my imagination. The last 20+ months have made me more aware of my surroundings, interactions and intentions. I can only guess you have also made some conscious changes too. With COVID-19 and the flu season upon us, I want to revisit this topic and share some more resources.

I sincerely feel that natural ways to reduce toxins is still the first, simple step. But I also know that both residential and commercial spaces can benefit from using filtration systems. More on that later.

First, here’s are some natural ways to clean your air that you can implement today:

  1. Utilize Indoor plants- NASA has a popular list of plants for this exact purpose: NASA Clean Air Study
  2. Reduce toxins by making your own cleaning products
  3. Take your shoes off when you come home
  4. Make sure your air filters are clean and changed out regularly
  5. Salt lamps
  6. Activated charcoal (tons of options!)

Now, if you’re looking for a boost to be cautious, have asthma or recovering from illness’s at home, you may want to consider an air purification system. There are many options out there depending on your price point, square footage needs and if your prefer a HEPA or ionizer system.

I recently met with an exceptional local professional, Charles Carfagno selling Air & SurfacePro systems in the Philadelphia area. I’ve been impressed with the data and testimonials from both residential and commercial clients and wanted to share this system. Here is a little information directly from Charles;

ActivePure technology (created by NASA and still used for its Space Station) safely rids all contaminants/pathogens(including SARS-Cov-2 virus that causes CV-19) from air 99.99% in 3 minutes & surfaces 99.98% in just hours. Our Air & SurfacePro is portable (approx. 12x12x12inches & 7.5 lbs.), services up to 3,000 sq. ft. area and is great for travel. It also significantly reduces mold, mildew, dust, pet dander and common allergens in homes and the workplace; serving as a major remedy for sinus, allergy and asthma sufferers. It is also being used in homes and businesses to safely (non-ozone) and effectively to reduce odors in the air and furniture, and to remediate even extreme mold infestation.

Whatever you decide, understand there are many options to fit your style, needs and budget. The important thing is to prioritize making your home happy and healthy so you stay happy and healthy!
